Once upon a time, there were four friends— Tiga, Justin, Mark and John— who were dissatisfied with what they saw as Montreal’s boring, overly formal nightlife at the time. In 1998, these four musketeers rolled up their sleeves and created the first I Love Neon club nights. Their big idea? Blow clubgoers away with an unparalleled multisensory experience.
A Neon show is more than just a concert: “We create an environment with lighting and visual technologies that enhance people’s experience of the music,” explains John Hatz, co-founder and director of I Love Neon.
In more than ten years on the scene, I Love Neon has made great strides in transforming Montreal’s nocturnal landscape, especially by helping to popularize the techno and electro genres. Today, Neon produces close to 100 shows per year. Some of the big names they’ve brought to Montreal over the years include MSTRKRFT, Justice, LCD Soundsystem and Crystal Castles.
