The river of history

One of the great things about Montreal is how easy it is to connect with culture in all its forms. There are many ways to discover the city’s culture, and one in particular that’s filled with surprises.

The municipal Department of Heritage and Culture has set up an impressive heritage tour called the Parcours riverain. At 800 points of interest along its 180-kilometer length, you’ll learn about important moments in the history of Montreal, intimately tied to the flow of the Saint Lawrence. As you wander the trail, your eyes will be treated to the beauty of nature, while visits to archeological and heritage sites and maritime infrastructure will satisfy your thirst for knowledge.

And there’s more than one way to take the tour: on foot, by car, on a bike, or even by kayak!

The choice is yours…
